Sub-Dividing Firewall For New Warehouse Tenants

Background

Stancold were extremely pleased to be approached by maritime repair services provider, Choose Design, who were looking to sub-divide their warehouse space in Southampton. Where temporary walls previously existed, passive fire protection was now a key requirement.

Process

Following the submittal of initial budget costs, our industrial partitioning expert, Shaun Jones, completed a detailed site survey. This allowed him to develop a value-engineered solution that utilised existing steelwork on site, as well as both vertical and horizontal installation methods to reduce costs for the client.

Project Delivery

Our LPS-approved installation team began their two week-long installation process within 6 weeks of initial contact with the client. We used the perfectly-suited Eurobond Firemaster panel system to achieve the 60-minute fire-rating specified for the firewalls. In order to make most efficient use of the space, a dog-leg design was implemented. Furthermore, allowing the client to sub-divide a certain area of their space more specifically than what would be possible with an individual partition.

Choose Design are soon welcoming new tenants into the sub-divided space, where it will be used for automotive detailing and other related services. Our team worked effectively across the live site to ensure a very quick turnaround on the project as a whole.

External Separation Firewalls For Live Biomass Plant, Barry

DNO Consulting Ltd

Background

As recent changes have been made to the fire safety regulations required for energy plants across the UK, Stancold worked with DNO Consulting Ltd to carry out an external firewall installation in Barry.

Process

Stancold’s strong technical expertise within internal fire-rated partitioning paired with DNO Consulting Ltd’s experience in the high voltage industry was key in being able to successfully develop the concept and design for this external firewall.

The structure was to sit between a generator and reactor, so in the unlikely event of a fire, it will act as a core barrier against the spread of flame.

Solution

Stancold installed Eurobond Mineral Fibre 125mm thick panels to form the partitions, complete with an externally treated finish to be able to withstand the outdoor elements. The team also completed fireboarding to the steelwork and overcladding in steel, offering maximum durability to the structure.

Health and safety was paramount during this project, as the client’s machinery on site remained operational. This was carefully planned and executed throughout by Stancold’s project management and installation team, ensuring a safe working environment. This project was completed on schedule and handed over to a satisfied end user.

Partition Walls For Self Storage & Delivery Centre, Bedford

Background

A popular personal and business self-storage company based outside London needed partition walls to divide their warehouse.

Requirement

To ensure an optimum climatic environment for workers at the self-storage facility, partition walls were needed to create a separate area of the warehouse. The walls will enable Storing.com to heat that part of the warehouse.

Solution

Partitioning different areas of the warehouse is a cost-effective way of ensuring that staff are working in a comfortable environment. The strip curtain allows easy access between the main warehouse. The Stancold team offered a competitive solution to this new customer, who said we provided an “excellent product and installation” which was completed on time.

Specialist Sake Chiller, London

Japanese Beverage Distributor

Background

A new client required our expertise to build frozen and chilled storage alongside a distribution warehouse for Europe’s biggest importer and developer of Japanese food and drink.

Requirement

Japanese food and drink has grown in popularity and the company needed to expand and adapt their facility to enable them to better serve their UK and European customers.

Solution

A series of rooms for storage and distribution including a 44.26m x 15.07m x 10.12m high freezer. To enable easy access, we installed a 3m wide x 4m high rapid rise door and because of the high value and storage requirements of Sake, a separate chiller was created, alongside the vegetable chiller for fresh produce. To keep the products at the correct temperature during loading we also installed a dock chiller.

It was an exciting project that required us to provide solutions for different food and drink products as well as the different stages of storage and distribution
