Sub-Dividing Firewall For New Warehouse Tenants

Background

Stancold were approached by maritime repair services provider Choose Design Ltd who were looking for a contractor to help sub-divide their industrial warehouse in Southampton. Where temporary walls previously existed, compliant passive fire protection was now a key requirement to accommodate new tenants.

Process

Following the submission of initial budget costs, our team conducted a detailed site survey to fully understand the space and the client’s project requirements.

The main project challenges included:

• Designing a solution that made efficient use of an existing live warehouse space
• Utilising both vertical and horizontal installation methods to maximise cost efficiency
• Delivering the project with minimal disruption to the client’s ongoing operations on site

Project Delivery

We specified panels to achieve the 60-minute required fire-rating. We were on site within 6 weeks from initial contact.

We drew on our rich technical knowledge in fire-partitioning which meant that we were able to suggest installing the panel system that utilised the existing steelwork on site, as well as implementing vertical and horizontal installation methods which reduced costs for the client.

To make the most efficient use of the available space, a dog-leg design was implemented allowing the client to sub-divide a specific area of their warehouse more precisely than a single straight partition would allow.

We worked effectively across the live site to ensure a swift project handover of just 2 weeks, allowing Choose Design to welcome their new tenants with minimal hassle.
