Working With Aberystwyth University On Their New Food Technology Centre

In autumn 2017 work will start on the Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus, Aberystwyth University’s new state of the art tech hub, which will provide a home for innovation and solutions for the agri-tech industry.

Currently in the final stages of planning, we were delighted to be able to offer our expertise to the university after the hygiene project recommended our services, having worked with us on projects in the past. The existing architect needed our expertise when it came to designing the food areas of the campus.

The university will be creating a Future Food Centre which aims to create “an integrated approach between primary production and processing, adding substantial value to food produced in the UK”.

This food cutting, processing and technology suite which needs to be of the highest standard, which is where our expertise came into play. We assisted the food specialist team and provided CAD drawings for the new facility.

Our drawings focused on the dairy and liquid, meat and bakery section of the new food facility.

Through the project, we introduced our knowledge of food manufacturing facilities to enable the project to meet BIM Food standards whilst offering construction experience to deliver a technical solution to satisfy their needs.

We have worked on similar projects in the past, such as the Food Manufacturing Training Centre for Peterborough Regional College.

The project is due for completion in autumn 2017 and will enable business and academics to work together using the best facilities, as well as providing economic growth for the region.

This design project was a fantastic way to make the most of our in-house expertise and be part of an innovative project that will add value to the agri-tech industry in South Wales and beyond.
