Following a successful tender enquiry from a main contractor, Stancold’s industrial partition team will provide fire-rated walls to separate offices from the warehouse area in their two new developments in East Midlands.
“It is always a pleasure to win a contract with a reputable company,” says Shaun Jones, Stancold industrial partitions & firewalls expert who oversaw the pre-construction stage of the contract. The initial scope of work included a 60-min fire rating and a certain wall thickness that turned out to be unfeasible for what the designs were.
“When I first saw the tender documentation, something didn’t feel quite right. It turned out that the planned steel supports wouldn’t work with the required specifications,” Shaun continues, mentioning how strict LPCB requirements can be. “We can be quite flexible with our solutions, but whatever we build must comply with all the regulations. This time it worked in everyone’s favour, saving our client a lot of money.”
Years of expertise in the field allowed Shaun to pre-emptively suggest changing these parameters. The result was a solution that worked better for both parties, keeping the count of supports lower – an important factor, considering the ever-rising cost of steel.
The project is currently in our design team’s hands, with works on site due to commence in December.
