Here at Stancold we are proud to know our chilled and frozen produce and we couldn’t think of a tastier award to sponsor at this year’s Taste of the West celebrations than the champion ice-cream.
This year’s winners, Taste Sidmouth, are from Devon. Their winning entry was a Mango Yoghurt Gelato that has been very popular with visitors to the seaside town this summer. Their focus is on using local products as much as possible using milk from Daisy Chain Dairy, which produces milk in the village of Whimple in East Devon, which is just down the road. All of the ice cream is made on their premises.
This isn’t the first time Taste Sidmouth have won an award but it was the first award for new owner Cathy Inglis, who until she took over the business two and half years ago had never made ice-cream.
The Taste of the West awards have now been running for 24 years and celebrate the best in local food, with categories for producers and restaurants. As a leading installer of bespoke coldrooms, freezers and hygienic food production facilities, there is nothing we love to celebrate more than local food and drink.
If you want to find out more how we can help you keep your ice-cream perfectly frozen, your yoghurt chilled or even create a room for your cheese to mature in, don’t hesitate to give Tom a ring on 01173167006.
Congratulations again to Taste Sidmouth, we can’t wait to visit and try your Gelato!
