Stancold Achieves Carbon Neutral Status

With climate change threatening livelihoods and communities across the globe, every business, regardless of its size, has a responsibility to do everything it can within its power to lessen its impact on the environment.

As a business in the construction industry, Stancold have two considerations here – managing the carbon efficiency funnelled from its supply chain and the direct impact this has on project delivery for our clients. Being a leading multidisciplinary sub-contractor in our field, Stancold have been prioritising its efforts over the last 6 months to look at this in more detail and focus on the actions that can be taken to acknowledge such a fundamental matter.

With the assistance of local carbon consultants, Future Leap, and through the in-depth analysis of the business’ operations during 2021, Stancold have compiled data from the inside-out to identify the most carbon-intensive activities and, as a result, areas required for improvement. This, accompanied by supporting external reduction projects through offsetting, has brought us to carbon neutrality.

The work continues with a carbon reduction plan in place, so we are now prioritising short-term and long-term goals to make adjustments across the business. This includes maintenance of our office space, monitoring wastage on site, and engaging with our own supply chain to determine what carbon footprint measures they have in place.

Discussing this milestone and its importance, Managing Director, Andy Croxton, has said:

I am delighted that we have been able to offset our carbon in a responsible way that will positively impact the lives of others in the global community, but this is just the start. Having worked with Future Leap to develop our reduction plan, we will, in future years, not only reduce Stancold’s carbon usage even further but will be looking to push our suppliers to follow our example, so that we can drive carbon out of our supply chain. Not only will this benefit the environment, but it will also allow us to help our customers’ aspirations to deliver projects in a more sustainable and less carbon-intensive way. It really is a win-win.

Stancold’s carbon neutral status will have a greater impact on the clients we work with now and in the future, allowing us to support their carbon efficiency journey as part of their scope 3 activities.
