Stancold have recently created a specialist laboratory environment for the international chemicals and precious metals company, Johnson Matthey in Royston. Working in high security and controlled environment, the installers had to wear protective clothing and follow strict protocol each time they’ve accessed the building.
Using mineral fibre cored panels the installers built 2 laboratories the area of 72m2 and 36m2 suitable for the fabrication of precious metal products for industrial and medical applications. The biggest challenge was to support the ceiling because there was no beam to support it from. We had to come up with an in-house solution and manufacture a specialist galvanised angle to connect the ceiling to the mezzanine floor above. The client was very happy with the result.
