Food Facility Fit-Out UK

Food Facility Fit-Out and Industrial Cold Store Construction

Stancold creates food-safe production layouts and industrial cold storage for UK food and beverage producers, using systems of insulated whitewall partitioning to maintain hygiene and hold consistent temperature.

Our job is the space inside a building intended for food and beverage production: food-safe walls, insulated ceilings and industrial cold storage areas. We build the hygienic partitioning systems that UK producers require when upgrading, expanding into larger units or reconfiguring their existing layout. Plus, we phase every programme so the site keeps working.

Our partner network lets us deliver a complete internal fit-out, including:

  • Doors and door channels
  • Vision panels
  • Flooring
  • Kerbing
  • Drainage
  • Edge protection
  • Refrigeration systems
  • Racking

All co-ordinated under one programme, with consistent points of contact.

Food Facility Projects: Upgrades, Fit-Outs and Reconfigurations

The various bespoke whitewall projects we can take on for UK food and beverage producers include:

  • Whitewall system fit-out for a newly acquired industrial unit
  • Extending the partitioning layout into unused or repurposed areas of a production or distribution facility
  • Reconfigurations of existing whitewall layouts for food production and cold storage spaces
  • Extensive surveys of existing food-safe partitioning systems and temperature-controlled storage areas
  • New-build internal partitioning install
  • Internal fit-out of factory extensions

Process Improvement Works: Reconfiguring Food Production Layouts

Spare facility space is production or storage capacity a producer is already paying for. Stancold supplies and installs systems of food-safe partitioning that turn unused or repurposed areas into compliant food production or temperature-controlled storage space.

We stage works and install around live production and operations wherever the site allows, keeping unplanned downtime out of the construction programme.

Stancold reconfigures existing whitewall layouts in food and beverage production sites. Our team will work with you to adapt your whitewall configuration for new product lines, allergen segregation or workflow changes, delivering practical, efficient solutions with dedicated points of contact throughout the programme.

With You at Every Stage of Your Production Journey

A producer’s expansion happens in stages, and so does our work.

We have supported producers including Proper Cornish, Refresco, Kendal Nutricare and Yeo Valley Organic through a series of upgrades, fit-outs and reconfigurations.

As members of the Cold Chain Federation, BFBi and the British Frozen Food Federation, Stancold demonstrates technical expertise in food and beverage facility fit-outs and stays up to date with the latest legislative and industry changes across the UK.

Wherever your operation is going, we would like to help you get there, this project and the ones that follow. That is our commitment to the UK food and beverage industry.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Where does Stancold work?

Stancold works in England, Scotland and Wales. We work with food and beverage producers directly, on facilities being upgraded, fitted out or reconfigured. If you run several sites, we can programme work across all of them.

  • What is included in Stancold’s food and beverage facility fit-out service?

Stancold delivers the internal fabric of your facility: hygienic whitewall partitioning, insulated ceilings and industrial cold storage areas. Doors, door channels, vision panels, flooring, kerbing, drainage, edge protection, racking and refrigeration can also be included in our construction programme. Groundworks and mechanical or electrical installation are outside our scope, though we are used to programming our works around them.

  • Does Stancold work on new builds, existing sites or both?

Most of our work is inside buildings that already exist, and often inside ones still running production. We upgrade existing areas, fit out newly acquired units and reconfigure layouts to suit changing processes. Fitting out new builds and extensions is also within our scope.

  • When is the right time to get in touch with Stancold?

Once you have a confirmed site and a project you intend to proceed with. That is usually an upgrade to an existing production area, a fit-out of a unit you have just taken on, or a planned reconfiguration. Getting in touch before the specification is fixed lets us bring our food facility expertise to the existing building, so you get the best production layout the building can support.

  • What happens when you get in touch with Stancold about a project?

When you get in touch about a project, we will ask about the site, the scope and your timescale. If you have any drawings, photos or dimensions, we will ask you to send those through to sales@stancold.co.uk. Those elements help us understand the existing space and the project goal very quickly. From there, we’ll pass your project to the relevant expert to discuss it further with you and, if possible, arrange a time to visit your site.

  • What type of panel technology does Stancold use?

Stancold utilises self-supporting insulated composite panel systems with a food-safe finish as standard. The same panel construction forms hygienic partitions, insulated ceilings, chillers, freezers and other temperature-controlled environments, with core type and thickness specified to the fire, hygiene and thermal requirements of each area.

  • Does Stancold handle groundworks for new builds?

No. Our scope starts at the internal fit-out, once the facility shell is constructed. We work alongside your groundworks and main contractors rather than replacing them. Many of our projects our are fitting out existing units, so groundworks rarely come into it.

  • What size projects does Stancold handle for food and beverage producers?

Our strongest fit is a substantial upgrade to an existing production area, a full internal fit-out of a newly acquired unit, or a phased reconfiguration programme across one or more sites. For smaller works, such as a single room, a short run of partitioning or remedial works, a local contractor would usually be more cost-efficient.

  • Can my site still be operational while a whitewall fit-out project is underway?

Yes. We work in operational food and beverage sites as standard, using temporary segregation to keep construction separate from production. Where that is not possible, we programme the works into scheduled shutdown periods, nights or weekends.

  • Does Stancold offer supply-only?

Stancold is an insulated panel contractor, so we supply and then install systems of whitewall partitioning to create bespoke internal environments. If you are looking to just purchase panels, we recommend going straight to the panel manufacturer.

  • What timescale can Stancold provide for my project?

Because each panel package is manufactured exactly to a project’s specification, the lead time from the point of order is usually 8–10 weeks. Total project duration depends on the overall scope. We set out a full programme once we have surveyed the site.

  • How quickly can I expect to receive a quotation for my cold store project?

Our current turnaround time for quotations is approximately two weeks from when we have received all the necessary information, pictures and project drawings. The more detailed information you provide about your project, the quicker we can produce an accurate quotation.
