Stancold’s success and continuing growth places us in a fortunate position, where we can regularly welcome new people to our team. With a very busy order schedule ahead of us, the expansion of our finance division has been a great next step to help us meet this high demand.
Sarah Chick has recently joined us to take on the role of Finance Officer, specifically involved in credit control. This is Sarah’s first time in the construction industry; we’re happy to be able to provide opportunities for people to experience this industry while also welcoming construction veterans to our company. Sarah has really appreciated the support of her helpful and very friendly colleagues, Alison and Olwyn, who have helped her settle into her new role.
A new challenge within an unfamiliar industry was something Sarah was really looking forward to when seeking a new job. As specialists within a more niche area of the construction industry, Stancold stood out to Sarah as an interesting and well-established company that would provide a fantastic opportunity for her to develop her skills and knowledge.
“I have come from a completely different industry and role but can definitely identify similarities that I’ve picked up from past experiences. This position with Stancold has provided the opportunity for me to learn more about construction. The processes and systems used within the accounts function, combined with my experience, has enabled me to learn quickly. Although there are definitely some elements I am still learning!”
Sarah has a strong financial background, where she’s gained decades of valuable experience working across a variety of companies and industries – from banks & financial services companies to a hospice and a school. It’s clear that she is an expert at adapting to new industries and applying her financial knowledge wherever she is. We’re very grateful to have her on board.
Outside of work, Sarah loves to walk her Cavapoo dog, Lexi. Their favourite spot is in the Mendip Hills and surrounding areas in North Somerset. She’s also an avid cook and reader! We thought it would be great to ask Sarah a ‘fun fact’ about herself – ‘I was tear-gassed at a football match in Budapest in 1993… it’s wasn’t much fun and not the best end to an otherwise fantastic holiday in Poland and Hungary!” Yes, we can’t imagine that was too much fun Sarah – maybe we should rename the segment to not-so-fun facts?
Sarah has transitioned seamlessly into the team, we look forward to seeing her continue to help the business become as successful as possible, alongside all of our great employees.
