One-Hour Fire Rated Protection for New Data Centre in Manchester

Stancold are starting work on a new one-hour fire rated data centre in Manchester next month, an exciting project that will allow us to make the most of our firewall expertise and provide Data Centre Environments Limited with a custom fitted installation that’s warrantied for two years.

The Sharp Project Data Centre is located Manchester’s innovative digital and production complex in Newton Heath. The centre will be used for a cloud infrastructure as well as offering colocation facilities for computer systems, telecoms systems and data storage. It will be a tier 3 data centre.

Our panels will form three rooms: two UPS rooms and a switch room. All rooms will be fire rated to one hour, including the ceiling and doors. These firewall panels will ensure safe data storage.

Data Centre Environments Limited selected us because we could not only fulfil their requirement to be on site within two weeks of them making an order, we could also satisfy their required fire ratings. We will also be providing a roof design that would allow foot traffic for maintenance purposes.

Work will be completed by mid-September, with the UK’s #1 cloud server moving onto the site by the end of the year.

Data centres store and process huge amounts of information and any disruption can be a big issue. Our one hour fire protection installation will prevent the spread of fire through the data centre.
