Industrial Freezer Extension Underway for Somerset Foodservice Supplier

Work is underway in Somerset for our dedicated food projects team this month, as they undertake extension works for a leading food wholesaler operating across the South West.

Liaising with the appointed project management contractor, a partner that Stancold knows well and has worked with previously, our expert team are responsible for the internal fit-out of a freezer extension and accompanying airlock.

It’s our strong existing relationship that has enabled smooth negotiations from the offset, where our team were involved in design meetings and site surveys, which have continued right up to commencement on site.

As part of the end user’s existing logistics site, the new extension leads on from the current freezer that needs to remain operational throughout the duration of the works. Used to working in live environments, Stancold has built a temporary wall to segregate the space and minimise disruption of the site’s day-to-day operations.

Stancold has specified and will use Kingspan’s QuadCore panel system for the fit-out’s walls and ceilings, which includes an adjoining airlock. Where thermal efficiency is key for freezer builds, incorporating an airlock into the design will reduce the loss of internal temperature that can often occur through constant access.

Also overseeing the installation of the new freezer’s concrete floor, this requires an armoured joint to seamlessly link to the room’s existing floor, avoiding potential cracking and inefficiencies going forward.

Stancold’s Divisional Development Manager, Patrick Ball, has commented:

“It’s fantastic to be working with an existing client to deliver a crucial project that will aid the expansion plans of this end user. Stancold’s foundations lie within the South West and it’s vital that we continue to support the growth of the food & drink industry locally.”
