Work is underway on site this week as the team have travelled to Crewe to begin the construction of a large two-hour firewall.
Our client, a national warehousing and distributor for some of the UK’s leading grocery retailers, has recently taken ownership of a brand-new warehouse on a recently built industrial estate and is now fitting out the unit to their required specification.
As part of the fit-out, Stancold are responsible for a large additional firewall positioned next to the existing office space, to section off a smaller area. Where the height of the unit reaches an impressive 15m, additional steelwork will be required so that our fire-rated composite panels can be installed horizontally. Two openings will also be created within the wall to allow for the integration of a roller shutter and personnel fire door.
Stancold have been involved in the scope of works since the early stages, where due to the vast area needed to cover, the team have worked in conjunction with our client’s structural engineers to accommodate design changes as they materialised.
To achieve the required fire rating of two hours, Stancold will utilise the Eurobond Firemaster composite system for this installation, using 100mm panels that span over 1300m² in total. This is to be accompanied by fire boarding to the new and existing steelwork for complete protection against the spread of flame.
