Food-Safe Fit-Out Underway for Leading Cat Meals Production Facility

Stancold’s food projects division are making good progress on site in Haverhill this month as part of their latest internal production fit-out contract.

The new-build manufacturing facility has been constructed for a leading cat meal provider as they expand operations, where Stancold are assuming responsibility for the entire food-safe fit-out, which includes the walls, ceilings and doors.

Stancold’s Divisional Development Manager and dedicated food projects expert, Patrick Ball, has reflected on the progress to date; ‘Stancold has been engaged with the client’s appointed project manager since mid-2021 and we’re really pleased to have aided them through the feasibility, design and planning stages of the contract’.

‘We took pleasure in recommending our trusted refrigeration partner to undertake the refrigeration element of the contract, which will not only ensure synergy as part of the 12-week construction programme but provides our client with peace of mind on their capabilities.’

The internal fit-out itself comprises of a variety of temperature-controlled and food-safe areas, including a dedicated meat prep room, a high-care production area, chill store and blast freezer, creating an operational workflow that suits the client’s manufacturing needs. This sees the team install over 5,000m² of Kingspan’s QuadCore system and approx. 15 doors – a combination of rapid rise, personnel and sliding doors to suit.

Future-proofing has been a key consideration as part of the facility’s design, allowing space in the layout for further internal expansion. This, combined with the reusable nature of panel construction presents a clear approach to sustainability for the client over the next 5 to 10 years at least.
