Fire-rated walls are critical elements of any data centre that help protect both personnel and valuable data storage. Stancold provide a bespoke package that fulfils this essential requirement.
Our latest data centre work is currently underway in Coventry, as the team complete the installation of fire-rated walls within a purpose-built facility. The aim of the project is to compartmentalise sections within the data centre’s server room. We’ve been involved in this project from the early stages, where we’ve liaised with the project’s interior fit-out contractor to create a suitable programme of works. This includes a phased construction process that allows other trades to complete their work effectively.
Phase 1 involves the installation of full height Mineral Fibre core composite panels. For this project, we’re using Eurobond’s Firemaster product – a system our team have many years of experience with. As requested by our client, a panel thickness of 100mm will be used and constructed to ensure a one-hour fire resistance. Once this phase is completed, other contractors will install a computer floor as well as a suspended ceiling with openings to accommodate our walls.
Phase 2 focuses on smaller non-fire-rated wall elements that will be located between both the computer floor and new ceiling. We partook in extensive design negotiations to provide a solution that not only accurately matches the specification but is also value-engineered. Stancold work hard to design cost-effective layouts that maintain passive fire protection excellence.
