We’re very pleased to be continuing our work in this industry later on in the month as we have secured a project to construct a two-hour firewall for a nationwide logistics provider in Gloucestershire.
With one area of their business specialising in the distribution of beverages from a local brewery, the client is undertaking a reconfiguration of their existing storage facility. This requires the erection of a 70m x 8m industrial partition complete with a two-hour fire rating.
Stancold’s industrial partitions specialist, Shaun Jones, completed a site survey with the client, where it was determined that a horizontal panel installation would be best suited for this project. Existing racking within the space makes a vertical panel install infeasible, due to the way the panels would need to be manoeuvred, so to avoid disruption for the client, an alternative method was negotiated in the early stages.
As a result of existing design constraints within the building, Stancold’s design team have had to recommend a bespoke solution of a unique head detail to the partition in order to continue to achieve the two-hour fire rating.
Stancold’s on-site installation team will be using PAROC insulated composite panels of 100mm thickness to construct the firewall, as well as firestopping and fireboarding to the existing steel columns. The team will also be responsible for the structural steel supports required for the new fire-rated roller-shutter doors.
As per the client’s schedule of works, this project is to be completed across two phases; the majority of the wall will be constructed initially before the team allow for the client to demolish an existing concrete partition. The last portion of the partition is to be completed by mid-June.
