Stancold’s Clean Room Envelope Specialist Team may be specialists in the design and specification of the cleanroom architectural envelope, but their unrivalled expertise doesn’t stop there. Drawing on strong experience from the wider Stancold brand, we’re able to confidently undertake projects within the pharmaceutical, medical and high-end manufacturing industries where additional elements of control are required, such as temperature and passive fire protection.
CREST’s recent project demonstrated this well, where our specialist team headed to London to complete the construction of two cold store envelopes for an ocular medicine manufacturer. Utilised for the storage of laboratory products, this included walls, ceilings, doors and insulated floors and was required on level 4 and 5 of the new building.
Stancold worked with fit-out contractor, BW: Workplace Experts, to ensure that the specification met the required temperature range of +2 to +8°c, while accommodating a 30-minute fire-rating to the cold store front wall on level 5, in line with the building’s existing firewall. Our ability to confidently undertake these elements, meet timescales and a quick start on site allowed our service to stand out.
Designed specifically for temperature-controlled applications, Kingspan’s QuadCore panel system was utilised, including FR30 panels, to build the two cold rooms. Two hinged chiller doors, including one with a 30-minute fire-rating, were also integrated as per the design specification.
Access to levels 4 and 5 of the busy construction site was an element of the project that required thorough planning and preparation by our Projects team. Contracts Manager, Sam Glover, explains: “This was a congested site with tight access throughout, so we implemented measures that took into consideration the lift’s spatial capabilities, as well as solutions that allowed the team to keep their tools safe as parking wasn’t available.”
Stancold’s Clean Room Envelope Specialist Team’s thorough planning, combined with strong experience in the industry allowed for this installation to be completed efficiently, with challenges handled successfully.
