Two-Hour Firewall & Office For Supermarket Warehouse

Bowmer and Kirkland

Background

After more than a decade of successful collaboration with Bowmer & Kirkland, we were delighted to be appointed for another challenging project. We were called in to help with a firewall and office installation to be used to upgrade the existing warehouse space.

Process

The project came with significant technical challenges, including a 2-hour fire-rated compartment wall spanning approximately 76 metres in length and reaching 14 metres in height, along with a series of ancillary rooms with varying fire rating requirements.

Given the scale and specific requirements of this project, we proposed Euroclad composite fire-rated panels as the optimal solution to support these dimensions due to their strong structural integrity.

Project Delivery

The wall and supporting steelwork installation was carefully phased to accommodate ongoing groundworks on site. We achieved the 2-hour fire rated protected roof zone on both sides of the wall at high level, with comprehensive firestopping throughout to maintain complete fire integrity. We also successfully formed multiple ancillary rooms which were fitted with doors. Our expert product knowledge helped us ensure the kitchen room met the 30-minute fire rating requirements through applying enhanced details in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Our LPS 1500 & 1531 accreditation was crucial to this project’s success. As an accredited installer, we were able to provide full certification for the fire protection system, giving Bowmer & Kirkland and their client complete assurance that the installation met the highest industry standards and was delivered on time.

With Stancold being accredited to LPS1500 & 1531, we were the ideal installer for this system as we could offer full certification, giving peace of mind to the client.

The wall installation was phased in order to facilitate ground works. Both phases of the wall installation were completed on time.

In addition, we were also tasked with forming a series of ancillary rooms complete with doors. The kitchen room within the welfare office was required to be 30-minute fire rated, so Stancold applied enhanced details in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure the fire rating was achieved in this area.
