After recently renovating the large barn, our client required a fire-rated partition in order to house a second tenant.

Process

Following initial research into jumbo stud partitions, the client made an online enquiry to Stancold for the best alternative solution.

The client required the most cost-effective product to suit their budget and needed a quick turnaround for their new tenant’s move-in date.

Solution

Stancold mobilised quickly and in just 20 days from the order being placed, the team completed the installation of a sub-dividing industrial partition with one-hour fire rating.

This was completed using Eurobond 100mm Mineral Fibre panels, measuring approximately 6m x 1.2m, and fire stopping products to ensure the fire integrity of the installation was achieved.

As Stancold’s firewall projects do not require wet trades, the installation itself was handed over in just 6 days and completed within the client’s tight timescale.

Firewall & A Non-Fire-Rated Enclosure

Background

Stancold were approached by an office fit-out company requiring assistance with the composite partitioning scope of their works for a leading confectionery & sweets manufacturer’s new facilities in Cheshire.

Following a successful tender process, we were awarded the contract to deliver an 84 metre long, 120-minute fire-rated wall and the construction of a non-fire-rated enclosure for a processing room.

Process

Our sales & design teams consulted the client’s architects to propose a solution accommodating the existing steelworks structure. Following a site visit conducted to advise on possible up-rating on fire-rated elements already in place, Stancold settled on a vertically oriented wall made of two stacked rows of Eurobond panels.

Project Delivery

The Stancold team liaised with the client to coordinate our visits in line with other works on site, allowing for flexible delivery of the overall project.

Having built the whitewall, our team returned to the site a month later to construct a 150 m² enclosure to contain a starch-processing plant, keeping it separate from the rest of the facility, given the flammable nature of the matter.

Background

An advanced manufacturing company from Dorset reached out to Stancold, looking to enclose a space in their old warehouse and make it fit their current standards.

Process

We took on a turnkey contract to deliver the 364 m² box. Due to the building’s limitations, part of the scope included putting in place the steelworks to support the panels.

Stancold engaged a third-party supplier to design a purposefully-built steel frame. Rather than placing panels adjacent to existing columns, we commissioned and oversaw the design & build of a fit-for-purpose solution to form a self-standing structure, liaising with the subcontractor on value-engineering their works to our requirements.

Project Delivery

The client’s strict production schedule meant our team had to adapt the installation process, necessitating a phased delivery with multiple visits. This required the space to be partially usable before completion, demonstrating the flexibility and modularity of composite-panel-system-based builds.

Whitewall Packages for Distribution Warehouses

Parkway MK

Background

Parkway MK were looking for a fire-rated installation subcontractor for three distribution warehouses in Suffolk Park, totalling 285,000 ft² floor space.

Occupiers included a global delivery company, a household appliances manufacturer and a local brewery.

Process
After tender submissions for all three of them, Stancold were selected to deliver office enclosures fire-rated for up to 60 minutes. Our scope encompassed fulfilling U-Values of 0.27 along a 34 dB noise reduction, contributing to the BREEAM “Excellent” ratings for the builds.

Stancold’s sales & estimating teams considered a variety of panel systems and layouts to provide desired time scales, ultimately settling on using Trimo Group’s product, Trimotech, for all three units. The final designs utilised a mix of vertically and horizontally oriented panels to optimise the material usage.

Divisional Wall for a Medical Equipment Manufacturer

Intersurgical

Background

Intersurgical, a global manufacturer of devices for respiratory care, reached out to Stancold to commission a divisional wall to separate production and storage areas.

Our client’s Facilities Manager recommended composite panels to their leadership team, who had never used such materials before. The essential factor was the non-disruptive installation method and Stancold’s guarantee for the facility to remain partially operational.

Process

Having conducted a site visit, Stancold proposed a non-fire-rated solution based on Kingspan Quadcore panels. The team recommended a set of rapid-rise doors to further limit dust from spreading around the critical parts of the warehouse.

Stancold’s sales & estimating teams delivered a satisfactory quotation, but the client’s yearly budget planning forced them to delay the project. Thanks to our commitment, we heard back from the client a year later.

Firewall Reconfiguration in a Fashion Retailer’s Warehouse

Background

Urban Group, a construction company from Yorkshire, approached Stancold to assist in their fit-out project for a fashion retailer’s warehouse in their locality.

Their client required the office enclosure’s undercroft closed off with an infill to expand the existing office area.

Process

The existing white wall was fire-rated for 120 minutes. Stancold were to match the fire rating and the panel system, and integrate the infill with the existing fire-stopping.

Our team proposed a solution allowing re-certification of the existing installation to LPCB 1208 standards as per insurance requirements.

Project Delivery

Stancold’s first task was to dismantle the existing cover strips to allow further works. The installation team noticed an issue with the existing structure, finding timber boards as a part of what was certified as a fire-rated wall.

Experience in on-site problem-solving allowed us to rectify the issue. Removing the boards from the wall and redesigning the infill to incorporate these changes were necessary. Stancold teams facilitated our client’s tight deadline and completed the build in two days, achieving the specified 120FR for the final solution.

Fire Access Corridor Partition

Background

Gaiger Brothers, a facilities management company from Devon, approached Stancold to refurbish their clients’ fire escape corridor walls.

The end user was a small electronics manufacturer whose priority was to, given an increasing volume of visitors, refresh the look of the area while keeping the parameters compliant with their insurer, FM Global.

Process

Stancold’s client, a more traditional construction company, has never worked with composite panels. It was paramount to conduct a site visit to ensure all parties understood the regulations, specifications and agreed on the scope.

During the pre-construction stage, Stancold’s team value-engineered and designed a solution allowing the client to keep cleanrooms partially operational and leave the bespoke interior envelope and doors intact.

Project Delivery

The challenges of the build required a thorough brief for the installation team. With the cleanroom walls built on a steel frame, Stancold’s experts selected an unusual 75 mm panel thickness, allowing installation using the existing structures and keeping the corridor’s width within Building Regulations.

Stancold completed the installation of the 50-metre-long L-shaped wall, complimented with two sets of personnel doors, in less than ten days, not only ensuring minimal disruption but also, thanks to the nature of working with composite panels, allowing the fire-escape route to be serviceable outside of the construction areas.

Global electronics manufacturer, Hydac Technology, approached Stancold’s industrial partitioning team looking for a solution to segment the space in their recently acquired second warehouse.

Process

With a need to contain the sound of a large industrial area from an adjacent R&D function, Stancold’s versatility of partitioning solutions beyond fire safety meant that we could propose a suitable system for this application.

Through a site survey, our team were able to confirm that the proposed solution could be achieved using the building’s existing structural support and provided further consultation on door options for quick personnel and manual handling equipment access.

Project Delivery

Our expert team successfully carried out the design-and-build of the warehouse division wall, utilising Kingspan’s QuadCore panel system to achieve the required acoustic properties and span capabilities.

Two rapid rise doors were integrated into the wall and installed as part of the second phase of the programme delivery.

Background

Stancold were approached by interior fit-out contractor, Fuselek, to complete the design and build of a fire-rated corridor, as part of larger works for a food manufacturing facility less than 5 miles from Stancold’s head office in Bristol.

Process

Designed to provide access to three newly formed labs, the corridor required a one-hour fire-rating, with a mezzanine floor constructed above, to follow on after our works. On Stancold’s doorstep, a site visit confirmed access points and the feasibility of the proposed installation method. The team’s trusted expertise of composite panel systems for fire-rated applications made sure that each of the design, specification and build elements could work together to achieve the required solution.

Project Delivery

Food Production Facility – Internal Fit-Out & Purpose-Built Extension

Speciality Food Manufacturer

Background

Stancold were involved in early-stage negotiations with a growing speciality food wholesaler, who were looking to expand and relocate their manufacturing facility within Birmingham.

Experienced project management contractor, Pentadel, took on the full turnkey package to transform and extend a tired existing building into a fit-for-purpose food manufacturing facility.

Process

Stancold were appointed to undertake the internal food-safe fit-out, alongside the internal and external cladding of a purpose-built extension, suited to product packaging and dispatch.

Our team worked collaboratively on the design and specification of this project to ensure that the end user’s requirements were met. Transferring specialist panel-build knowledge and skills into the external extension works allowed us to confidently add this element to our responsibilities.

The full specification included over 10 different areas, such as main production, a blast chiller, dry store and soy room.

Project Delivery

As part of a 9-month phased construction, which included coordinating with other contractors on the busy site, Stancold installed over 5500m² of food-safe insulated panels internally to form areas as per the end user’s specification, alongside a 60-minute sub-dividing firewall between the building and its new extension, another part of Stancold’s scope to meet fire safety building regulations.

The extension construction included all cladding, using goosewing grey trapezoidal panels from Kingspan’s roof system, and door canopy. These works also encompassed a one-hour fire-rated boundary wall, utilising a RockSpan composite core. With tight access to consider, panels were craned from a bank to the rear of the building, alongside narrow plant used throughout.

Internally, the fit-out incorporated bespoke window details to accommodate the building’s existing roof lights, as well as specialist flush windows, allowing free viewing into the main production area. The team constructed a bulkhead to neatly conceal air handling equipment and all existing steelwork was encased to maintain food safety excellence.

This was a large project that required timely planning, coordination and construction at every stage, where our team thrived in demonstrating such qualities.

Background

Following previous experience with the contractor, CREST were invited to tender with Rydon Construction for the fire-rated cleanroom fit-out of a new purpose-built aerospace centre in Bristol.

Process

Our team were involved from the early stages of this project to assist with the technical specification that included both passive fire protection and ISO standard cleanrooms.

Negotiations and design meetings were conducted virtually due to COVID-19, before site surveys followed once the green light was given for the project.

Project Delivery

CREST installed composite walls, ceilings, doors and vision panels to form a number of areas as part of the fit-out. This included production and preparation zones and accompanying airlocks.

The project utilised Eurobond’s Firemaster system with a white food-safe coating throughout, which achieved both a FR30 rating and a cleanroom finish to meet the specification requirements. System doors were also included to ensure no necessary additional secondary steelwork was needed.

Working alongside other contractors within an open warehouse required methodical planning and co-ordination by the team and was managed well to ensure that our build schedule was uncompromised.

Stancold were approached by the project’s main contractor, following a recommendation from a supply chain partner, as a competitive alternative to traditional jumbo stud work.

The end user, a company dedicated to aluminium packaging innovation, required four fire-rated partitions to form an enclosure that would house new specialist equipment.

Process

As this was the first time that the contractor had used a composite system for a fire-rated partitioning project, we worked collaboratively to ensure that the design and specification matched the requirement.

There was also the project’s programme of works to consider, centred around the delivery and installation of the new equipment, so we developed a phased construction schedule to meet this timeline and other contractors’ arrangements on site.

As far as the ever-changing market allowed, our on-site team worked tirelessly to meet the project’s tight programme of works.

The composite enclosure was made up of a Mineral Fibre panel system, where panels were installed vertically from 2m high concrete bunds, enhancing protection against hazardous leakage. Firestopping accompanied this to achieve the required FR60 specification.

Stancold were delighted to work with our client, a specialist in industrial storage solutions, again, following the success of our recent work together within a fashion retail distribution warehouse.

Process

A four-storey mezzanine structure was to be installed within this e-commerce fulfilment centre in Northampton, so four no. fire-rated staircase enclosures were required as part of the building’s fire safety strategy.

Thanks to years of experience in this type of work, Stancold’s team have an unrivalled understanding of the intricacies required within this type of construction, so a collaborative programme of works was developed to ensure that the build of each element, including both the mezzanine and enclosure, was coordinated with logistics in mind.

Stancold were extremely pleased to be approached by maritime repair services provider, Choose Design, who were looking to sub-divide their warehouse space in Southampton. Where temporary walls previously existed, passive fire protection was now a key requirement.

Process

Following the submittal of initial budget costs, our industrial partitioning expert, Shaun Jones, completed a detailed site survey. This allowed him to develop a value-engineered solution that utilised existing steelwork on site, as well as both vertical and horizontal installation methods to reduce costs for the client.

Project Delivery

Our LPS-approved installation team began their two week-long installation process within 6 weeks of initial contact with the client. We used the perfectly-suited Eurobond Firemaster panel system to achieve the 60-minute fire-rating specified for the firewalls. In order to make most efficient use of the space, a dog-leg design was implemented. Furthermore, allowing the client to sub-divide a certain area of their space more specifically than what would be possible with an individual partition.

Choose Design are soon welcoming new tenants into the sub-divided space, where it will be used for automotive detailing and other related services. Our team worked effectively across the live site to ensure a very quick turnaround on the project as a whole.

Magrock Construction

Background

Stancold were successful in securing the passive fire protection works package across three new industrial units in Ruislip with main contractor, Magrock Construction.

Process

As our first project with Magrock, our team built a firm relationship with the contractor through design meetings and site surveys, which were swiftly completed in line with the build’s programme of works.

The package involved compartment walls and office firewalls. Where the build was based on an existing industrial site and access was tight, additional planning was required to ensure that material and plant deliveries were made with little disruption to the site team.

Solution

All fire-rated partitioning was installed using Trimo’s Mineral Fibre composite panel system, of 150mm thickness, to guarantee a one-hour fire protection within the new units.

Units 1 & 2 were formed using a compartment wall, an insulated full-height partition that runs the entire width of the building, as well as office firewalls to provide vital fire protection between personnel areas and warehouses. Unit 3 required office firewalls only. All joints were fire-stopped to ensure full fire integrity while openings were created and capped for the integration of doors.

While adhering to the Government’s and Magrock’s COVID safety guidelines, the team worked hard to meet the required construction scope and installation timeline.

Stancold were delighted to be approached again by property owners, Howard Tenens. Following our previous work together at their site in Berkley, modifications were required within a vacant warehouse to prepare for new tenants.

Process

To ensure the building could be used to its potential, Howard Tenens planned for two new compartment walls in order to divide the large space into three units.

Having already built a strong working relationship with the client, our expertise was beneficial in accommodating a design that best suited the vast, yet long, shape of the warehouse. A site survey and detailed design drawings confirmed the final configuration of the build.

Solution

As the building was unoccupied, Stancold had plenty of space to successfully construct two fire-rated partitions to compartmentalise the unit. The team worked hard to complete all works on site in just 7 days.

Boasting unrivalled passive fire protection and sound absorption properties, Eurobond’s Firemaster Mineral Fibre panelling system was utilised, where a 100mm thickness of panel achieved the required one-hour fire-rating. Boughey Distribution

Background

Stancold were approached by fresh food storage and logistics provider, Boughey Distribution, as they acquired a second warehouse to aid their expansion plans. The vast new space required some remodelling works to make it fit-for-purpose for the business’ operations. This included a two-hour fire-rated partition to segregate areas.

Process

We were able to offer vital support and advice from the early stages of Boughey’s warehouse acquisition. Due to the building’s 17m high-span ceiling, Stancold accurately recommended an appropriate design, installation method and panel system to suit the height, which included secondary steelwork to accommodate a horizontal panel construction.

Stancold’s team worked closely with Boughey across every aspect of the project to ensure feasibility in this complex design, while taking their budget into consideration.

Solution

Our project management and on-site installation team worked tirelessly to take care of the intricate elements of this firewall specification.

The Eurobond Firemaster Mineral Fibre panel system was utilised throughout, where 1,300m² of 100mm thick panels were installed horizontally against secondary steelwork, achieving the desired two-hour fire-rating.

The team successfully co-ordinated the positioning of all additional 17.5m-high steel posts via a 40-tonne crane with fly jib, making sure this high-risk activity was managed safely. This was accompanied by steel framing for a roller shutter and personnel door. Once the partition was built, all visible steelwork and head details were fire boarded to maintain fire integrity.

Food-Safe Fit-Out in Production Extension for National Food Manufacturer, Slough

Background

Following a competitive tender process, Stancold won the work to complete the entire internal food-safe fit-out for a new production area extension spanning two floors, undertaken by national contractor, Walker Construction.

Process

The end user, a household name in food manufacturing, specified non-combustibility as a key factor within the construction. To meet their requirements, Stancold were able to offer white food-safe panelling with a Mineral Fibre core, and worked consultatively with Walker Construction and the end user to accommodate changing design specifications before starting on site.

Solution

Stancold installed over 4200m² of Mineral Fibre core panelling with a food-safe finish, to form a number of new areas within the vast production warehouse space. This included goods-in areas, pallet stores, stairwell enclosures between floors, hygienic corridors and plant rooms.

Stancold were also responsible for the installation of all single and double fire exit doors, as well as 60-minute fire-rated doors where required; approximately 40 in total.

The team took care of the intricate construction details around the existing steelwork, carefully matching up panel joints for an aesthetically-pleasing finish throughout.

One-Hour Fire-Rated Partition for New Industrial Unit, Swindon

Main Contractor

Background

As the Swindon industrial park underwent an expansion, Stancold won the tender to complete the sub-dividing fire-rated partitioning work in a new unit on the site.

Process

Stancold formed a new relationship with the main contractor throughout the project. Discussing the benefits of a composite panel system was a key element within the negotiation process, along with the contractor’s budget and quick turnaround time.

Stancold’s firewall team were able to value engineer a proposal that took their requirements into consideration.

Solution

Due to the height of the building, a horizontal panel installation was required, where approximately 700m² of the Eurobond Mineral Fibre Firemaster system was utilised to achieve a one-hour fire-rating for the partition. Intumescent batt was installed to the top and sides of the wall to maximise fire integrity and was completed with a painted deflection head detail.

With only four weeks between the initial pre-let meeting and our arrival on site, both Stancold’s office-based projects team and on-site installers worked hard to prepare and complete the build to the contractor’s schedule and to their complete satisfaction.

Two-Hour Fire-Rated Partitioning System for Warehouse Sub-Division, Bristol

Fulton Ltd

Background

Following changes to their production process, Fulton Boiler Works, an industrial boiler specialist, were left with surplus space on site in Bristol. The most viable option was to sub-divide the area and let out to a new tenant.

Process

During an initial site survey, it was determined that the existing steelwork had already been treated with intumescent paint, therefore fire boarding was not required as part of Stancold’s works. This ensured that the project remained in budget for the client and an accurate quotation was provided.

Solution

Just a week on site saw the sub-dividing partition complete from start to finish. Due to the internal height of the facility, Eurobond’s Mineral Fibre Firemaster system was installed horizontally in order to achieve a fire rating of 2 hours.

Two-Hour Fire-Rated Warehouse Partition, Gloucestershire

Howard Tenens

Background

Howard Tenens, a nationwide logistics provider, accepted a new contract with a beverages client and required a reconfiguration of their existing storage facility.

Process

Within their plans, our client specified a partition wall spanning the 70m width of the warehouse, complete with a two-hour fire-rating.

During planning, we evaluated the options for installation; due to large racking already in place on site and the length of the panels required, a vertical installation would involve unnecessary disruption for the client to move it elsewhere. Therefore, it was negotiated that a horizontal installation would minimise such obstacles.

Solution

Stancold installed a 70m long x 8m high partition wall using Eurobond Firemaster Extra panels, achieving a two-hour fire-rating for the structure. This included fireboarding to the existing steel columns and firestopping to a unique head detail, which was designed to achieve the required fire-rating while conforming to the constraints of the building.

The installation took place over two phases, allowing for other demolition works to be carried out before the final portion was completed and handed over to our satisfied client.

Stancold’s specialist knowledge of passive fire protection and a competitive quotation won the tender with local construction contractor, Bailey Construction, within a new industrial park complex in Hemel Hempstead.

Process

In our first project with the contractor, our experienced team met with Bailey Construction on site to complete site surveys and design meetings. This enabled Stancold to offer a value-engineered solution that was suitable for the project’s requirements.

Together, Bailey Construction and Stancold successfully planned the installation of the fire-rated sub-dividing partitions across six new industrial units on the complex.

Solution

Stancold constructed a number of sub-dividing walls, each with a fire rating of one hour, using Eurobond Firemaster panels of 125mm thickness, installed vertically.

Specialist firestopping also accompanied the composite panels to the head and sides of each complete partition, achieving full fire integrity.

Background

As recent changes have been made to the fire safety regulations required for energy plants across the UK, Stancold worked with DNO Consulting Ltd to carry out an external firewall installation in Barry.

Process

Stancold’s strong technical expertise within internal fire-rated partitioning paired with DNO Consulting Ltd’s experience in the high voltage industry was key in being able to successfully develop the concept and design for this external firewall.

The structure was to sit between a generator and reactor, so in the unlikely event of a fire, it will act as a core barrier against the spread of flame.

Solution

Stancold installed Eurobond Mineral Fibre 125mm thick panels to form the partitions, complete with an externally treated finish to be able to withstand the outdoor elements. The team also completed fireboarding to the steelwork and overcladding in steel, offering maximum durability to the structure.

Health and safety was paramount during this project, as the client’s machinery on site remained operational. This was carefully planned and executed throughout by Stancold’s project management and installation team, ensuring a safe working environment. Jordan & Faber Ltd, a construction contractor based in Dorset, came to Stancold after winning the tender for the refurbishment of an army barracks site in Wiltshire.

Process

With Stancold specified as the preferred supplier of the fire-rated partitioning for this project, we worked closely with Jordan & Faber Ltd to install one separation wall, dividing space that would be used for garaging military vehicles.

Solution

NGS Cleanrooms

Background

Stancold have a long-standing relationship with cleanroom specialists, NGS Cleanrooms, who undertook the design and construction of an ISO 8 cleanroom suite for their client, a probiotics manufacturer in Somerset.

Process

Stancold worked closely with NGS Cleanrooms and Puracore, producing detailed design plans for the large bespoke cleanroom build.

Solution

The project required the installation of 1250m² of FM Approved Puracore Aluminium Honeycomb Cored panels, fully flush vision panels and rapid roller shutter doors to form 28 processing rooms. Stancold also supplied and installed an integrated one-hour firewall, using Kingspan Mineral Fibre Cored 100mm panels. This included the fitting of double ‘hold open’ fire-rated personnel doors and all firestopping to achieve maximum fire integrity. Stancold were responsible for the suite’s cold storage facility, constructed using Kingspan Quadcore panels and completed with a white food-safe finish to match the rest of the Grade D cleanroom suite. There were a number of intricate and complex details to the project, such as the seamless integration of motion-sensor service points for doors and air return columns. Stancold’s specialist expertise and strong cleanroom experience enabled the 6-week bespoke project to be completed successfully.

As part of an ongoing expansion for an R&D manufacturing campus, Catfoss Group Manufacturing were constructing a modular building and required a number of clean fire-rated areas.

Process

As an offsite modular construction, site surveys could only be completed once everything was in place on site, where Stancold then worked efficiently to complete the necessary surveying and design tasks prior to installation.

Solution

Working to a tight programme of works, Stancold supplied and installed approximately 250m² of fire-rated partitions, 80mm thick Kingspan Mineral Fibre Cored panels were used to create several clean areas with a corridor.

The team also installed 8 no. 60 minute fire-rated double hinged personnel doors, which were compliant to DDA standards. This was in conjunction with firestopping products to the partitions to ensure a fire-rating of up to two hours throughout.

A successful tender bid led Stancold to work with Colmore Tang in the installation of a fire-rated dividing wall between offices and warehouse space, across two new distribution units at Pineham Park.

Process

Stancold worked closely with Colmore Tang on the programming of the project, in order to ensure the end product was delivered to schedule and in coordination with the other contractors on site.

Solution

The Stancold team completed two visits to site to construct fire-rated partitions in each unit, totalling an overall requirement of 815m². Stancold’s LPS 1500 approved installation team used Eurobond Mineral Fibre 150mm panels to form personnel office on a raised platform in the new warehouse space, working on site for two weeks. The insulated panels were installed vertically in order to achieve a 4-hour fire rating and completed with firestopping products to ensure maximum fire integrity.

The sustainable materials used in Stancold’s firewall installations contributed to Pineham Park’s ‘Very Good’ BREEAM assessment rating, a fantastic achievement that acknowledges the build’s sustainability performance. Colmore Tang chose to work with trusted suppliers that included Stancold in order to achieve this status.

We have worked with Rehau on a previous project and they knew they could trust our team to help with the expansion.

Process

To enable them to set up a new production line for their UPVC window extruder manufacturing, we installed a one hour firewall to separate production from the factory, accessible through two fire rated personnel doors. We also installed panels to create a series of office spaces, one with a mezzanine floor.

Solution

Our first challenge was ensuring that the installation was of minimal disruption to the rest of the factory. We coordinated closely and communicated regularly with the factory manager so that our experienced team completed the firewall installation, fire-batting and openings for doors in just four days, enabling the Rehau team to continue their work.

Process

Stancold installed a 2-hour rated firewall to form a compartment wall as well as a combination of non-fire rated and 30-minute fire rated ancillary rooms. The fire rated composite wall panels were from Eurobond Laminates and form the approx. 76m long by 14m high divisional wall.

Solution

Stancold also installed 2-hour rated fire protection to the steelwork supporting the wall and formed a 2-hour rated protected roof zone detail to both sides of the wall at a high level. Firestopping materials were used to ensure the integrity of the firewall.

Using our unique experience of cleanroom design and construction and fire-rated enclosures, Stancold were awarded the project after winning a competitive tender through Principle Contractor, Merit Holdings.

Process

The suite of new cleanrooms was built to grade D classification and the fire-rated enclosures were designed to be clean not classified.

Solution

We installed 6m high freestanding walls with integrated flush cleanroom windows connected to an aluminium T-Bar suspended ceiling grid which formed the plenum and low-level return air cooling coils. The return air ducts were formed using 50mm FM approved Puracore cleanroom walls to a height of 6m and we also provided temperature controlled cleanrooms with Eurobond panels to a height of 8m.

We have worked with A&H Construction on several occasions, and have worked on all the units at this site.

Process

Stancold installed a 150mm thick composite wall & ceiling panels with a mineral fibre core to both units to achieve the required fire ratings. We also installed firestopping products within the wall lines where the firewall/ceiling panels met adjacent structures (such as external cladding and roofing) to ensure the fire integrity of the installation was achieved.

Solution

Stancold dealt with difficult access conditions in Unit 7 by installing 4.10m high firewalls around a projecting gantry/walkway from the wall line. The sheer size of the panels in Unit 7 required extra care and attention to ensure a safe installation was achieved.

Approach

After seeing our firewalls at another retail site, we priced a couple of projects for them and our solution was better value-per-square-metre than traditional blockwork and stud partitioning. The solution is also faster to install, cleaner and more visually appealing.

Solution

Two 120/120 rated divisional firewalls, 70m long and 8.5m high, to divide existing warehouse facility into three separate units, each for different clients.

We installed vertically orientated 150mm Eurobond Firemaster Wall Extra panels to form the divisional firewalls as required. We also provided 120-minute fire protection to the existing steelwork in order to offer the complete fire compartmentalisation solution.

Requirement

The main dividing wall, measuring 120m x 15m needed to be upgraded to a 60-minute firewall. Two small hub offices and an office wall extension of 45m to a wall we had previously built which need to be fitted with a 2-hour firewall.

Requirement

To subdivide 3 new-build warehouses over 3 phases with 1hr fire-rated partition walls complete with full fire-stopping and secondary steelwork. The curved roof profile was a challenging feature, but the flexibility of our system ensured that we fully meet the client’s expectations.

Solution

Mineral fibre warehouse dividing walls are considerably quicker to install than alternatives and offer outstanding value for money. We have developed a special galvanised channel detail to support the panels to the mezzanine, which enabled us to use panels in full span ensuring an aesthetically superior finish and saving the additional cost of painting steelwork.
