ISO 8 Cleanroom Suite

The Brief

Cleanroom specialists, NGS Cleanrooms, a long-standing Stancold partner, were appointed to design and build an ISO 8 cleanroom suite for a probiotics manufacturer in Somerset. NGS needed an architectural envelope contractor able to take the full panel scope – cleanroom, fire-rated partitioning and cold storage – within a single package and deliver it to a six-week programme.

Our Approach

Stancold worked alongside NGS Cleanrooms and panel manufacturer Puracore from the design stage, producing detailed drawings for the bespoke 1,250m² build before work began on site.

Consolidating the cleanroom envelope, firewall and cold storage into one scope removed the design and buildability risk that comes with appointing multiple specialist subcontractors. It gave NGS a single point of responsibility for the complete envelope and a coordinated programme to plan the wider project around.

Delivery in Action

Stancold installed 1,250m² of FM Approved Puracore aluminium honeycomb cored panels, complete with fully flush vision panels and rapid roller shutter doors, to form 28 processing rooms.

An integrated FR60 firewall followed, finished with double ‘hold open’ fire-rated personnel doors and all firestopping to achieve maximum fire integrity. The suite’s cold storage facility was constructed using Kingspan’s QuadCore system with a white food-safe finish, matching the Grade D cleanroom areas throughout.

The build carried a number of intricate details, including the seamless integration of motion-sensor service points for doors and air return columns. Close coordination with NGS and Puracore, supported by a team experienced in GMP-classified environments, saw the bespoke suite handed over within the six-week programme.
