Hygienic PPE Manufacturing Areas

The Brief

Pal International, a manufacturer of cleaning and PPE products, approached Stancold during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Government guidance across the UK placed their product range in sudden and sustained demand.

Meeting it meant commissioning a new production line and creating the hygienic space to house it. The requirement was clear: additional production areas built to a standard that would not compromise product integrity, available within weeks rather than months.

Our Approach

We took a consultative approach to the client’s vacant space, value-engineering a design that retained existing building walls where they could be used. This reduced both material quantity and programme duration without reducing the usable production footprint.

With the line required on site within weeks, procurement sat on the critical path. Our long-standing relationships with manufacturers and suppliers secured panel availability to the client’s timescale, allowing construction to begin when the client needed it to.

Delivery in Action

The final design comprised six hygienic manufacturing areas at differing heights, with openings formed to accommodate production equipment and personnel doors installed throughout.

Kingspan’s QuadCore panel system was specified across 1,680m² at 100mm thickness, selected for its high-quality hygienic finish and wipe-down cleanability in areas subject to routine hygiene inspection.

Working within an operational site through the pandemic, our team adhered to strict social distancing measures and precautionary checks as directed by Pal International, ensuring the works introduced no risk to their existing production. The client’s schedule was met in full and their operations continued uninterrupted throughout.
