Freezer Storage for Carbon Fibre, Rochdale

Tygavac

Background

Part of Airtech Advanced Materials Group, Tygavac approached CREST to be their partner for the design & build temperature-controlled storage for carbon fibre, a key product within their manufacturing process that has an extended lifespan when stored below -20C.

Process

Following a comprehensive site survey to assess the work area and the client’s requirements, the team proposed a full turnkey solution that included 470m³ freezer store with refrigeration, pallet racking, concrete floor & full protection system.

Project Delivery

The insulated store was built utilising Kingspan’s PIR panel system with integrated insulated sliding door suitable for forklift truck access. The floor comprises an underfloor heater, insulation & reinforced concrete. The refrigeration consists of two J & E Hall condensing units, connected to two Searle evaporators located high in the freezer. We installed all the mechanical, plumbing and electrical works, including all testing and commissioning.

Finally, the team installed an innovative RDM data manager which enables the client to monitor and control the room’s performance. This can be done either locally or remotely using a desktop computer or an app installed on a mobile device.
