1-Hour Fire-Rated Multi-Unit Warehouse Division

EJ McGrath

Background

Building contractor EJ McGrath approached Stancold’s Industrial Partitioning team to provide a fire-rated solution for separating a warehouse into multiple lettable units in Weston-super-Mare. This type of warehouse compartmentation is a project scope Stancold has a wealth of experience in, and with the site just a short trip down the M5 from our Bristol head office, we were perfectly positioned to support.

Process

Stancold’s Business Development Manager for Industrial Partitions worked closely with EJ McGrath to determine the appropriate material specifications for dividing the units.

The main project challenges included:

  • Dividing a single warehouse into four distinct, compliant units
  • Completing a turnkey installation within a tight 6-day timeframe
  • Designing partitions that accommodated the pitch in the building’s roof structure

Project Delivery

A key consideration for the installation was the building’s height: fortunately, the specified areas did not exceed the maximum span of mineral fibre panels, allowing for vertical installation and a more efficient build.

Over the 6 days on site, our team successfully installed a turnkey system of Euroclad 100mm mineral fibre panels, achieving a 1-hour fire rating throughout. The partitions were designed specifically to accommodate the pitch in the building’s roof, ensuring seamless integration with the existing structure.

We successfully handed the project over to the client’s specification and within the strict timeframe, ready for the client’s new tenant to move in.

We were pleased to provide an efficient fire-rated solution for our client.
