Cleanroom Suite Fit-Out

Background:

Stancold were engaged for the architectural cleanroom envelope package on a biopharmaceuticals manufacturing facility fit-out in Portsmouth.

Working alongside the principal contractor, Stancold combined cleanroom envelope expertise with passive fire protection capabilities to meet an ISO 7 specification across four mould shop cleanrooms and a mould tool store, alongside a 60-minute fire rating to a 13m-high compartment wall.

Process:

As a large-scale project utilising nearly 10,000m² of composite panelling, our team worked closely with the customer’s design and project team from the early stages to accommodate a changing end user specification.

Based on this, Stancold recommended the Kingspan Versatile cleanroom system for all controlled areas, with Euroclad Firemaster integrated for the fire-rated elements – combining both systems within a single build to meet the full specification without compromising programme or budget.

Project Delivery:

The build incorporated tight timescales and close coordination with multiple trades, ensuring steel frames and HVAC were in place ahead of wall and ceiling installation. The design also incorporated supporting airlocks, changing areas and clean-not-classified corridors.

The team worked in strong collaboration with the customer to synchronise works around a gantry crane system running the length of the cleanrooms, with multiple installation teams working concurrently across different areas of the facility to maintain programme.

This was a technically demanding project from both a specification and programme standpoint, successfully overcome through Stancold’s collaborative approach and expert delivery.
