Cleanroom Envelope Fit-Out with Firewalls

The Brief

Stancold was appointed by the end user’s nominated contractor, responsible for delivering a full turnkey cleanroom solution, to complete the cleanroom envelope fit-out within a pharmaceutical manufacturer’s new extension in Tredegar.

Working under the on-site project management contractor, our scope had to support the end user’s accelerated manufacturing plans without introducing risk into the wider programme.

Our Approach

The scope was intricate. Redundant space had to be brought back into use in and around complex steel structures, while meeting fire protection requirements and the end user’s budget.

Rather than defaulting to a single specification, our team worked consultatively with the end user to explore a number of panel system combinations, testing each against performance, fire rating and cost. The agreed package integrated three different panel systems – the only route to achieving the specification in full without compromising the programme or the commercial position.

Delivery in Action

Stancold’s responsibilities covered all cleanroom walls, walk-on ceilings, doors, vision panels and 60-minute firewalls, amounting to nearly 8,000m² of works.

Puracore, Kingspan Versatile and Euroclad Firemaster were combined, each used where its characteristics best suited the area. Accurate colour matching across all three systems delivered a consistent white finish throughout the facility, detail that matters where systems from different manufacturers meet in a GMP environment.

Two installation teams worked in unison, constructing the cleanrooms and firewalls simultaneously. The package was handed over within the assigned 15-week schedule, giving the contractor certainty across the wider build programme.
