This was demonstrated successfully during a recent project in Crewe, where the team completed a high-span two-hour firewall within a vast new warehouse for a large fresh foods storage and distribution provider.
Stancold’s industrial partitions specialist, Shaun Jones, worked closely with the client from the early stages of the warehouse acquisition, to recommend a fire-rated partition design that would allow them to re-model the space to better suit their operational needs. This included a thorough site survey, a core element of Stancold’s consultation process, where Shaun was able to take the building’s high-span ceiling, measuring 17m, into his design considerations.
Our team have plenty of experience with vast ceiling areas such as this, so were able to confidently offer additional structural steelwork to support a horizontal panel construction, ensuring that the required two-hour fire-rating was achieved. A pre-construction site meeting was undertaken to safely arrange and advise this with all other contractors present.
The build itself comprised of over 1,200m² of Eurobond Firemaster 100mm panelling, installed horizontally, against additional secondary steelwork that was carefully co-ordinated by our on-site team. As a high-risk activity, this was undertaken safely and methodically, where the 17.5m-high posts were positioned using a 40-tonne crane and fly jib, alongside steel frames for a roller shutter door and personnel door.
