Installing an ATEX-Rated Chiller for Pharmaceutical Chemicals

Stancold’s work within the pharmaceuticals industry spans from vaccine filling suites to bio storage chambers. Our team’s strong technical expertise doesn’t stop there though, where alongside ISO grade environments, we have also successfully demonstrated our work in installing ATEX-rated facilities.

We’re pleased to have been awarded the supply and install of an ATEX-rated chiller for a worldwide consumer goods brand at their Reading site. Following a recommendation from a regular cleanroom customer, Stancold will be working with a national construction contractor to create the chilled facility, rated as ATEX Zone 2, that will be used to store chemicals with low flashpoints.

Stancold’s sales and project management team have worked closely with the contractor so far to submit technical information on all products for approval by the end user. Site surveys will be undertaken imminently, following the completion of the main building structure, to finalise details prior to installation.

The small chiller will utilise insulated 100mm thick Kingspan Quadcore panels, a single chiller door, shelving, insulated flooring, a contained monoblock refrigeration system and ATEX-rated lighting, where Stancold are taking care of each element.

The facility’s ATEX rating means that care and attention must be taken at every stage of the process, from quotation through to construction, where our team’s strong experience and close relationship with the contractor will ensure that it is installed successfully.

Stancold’s installation team will begin the week-long build at the end of this month: we’re looking forward to seeing the finished product.
